Intercessory Prayer Line Ministry To provide a spiritually charged atmosphere for developing and nurturing a more meaningful and effective prayer life that through the Holy Spirit produces supernatural results in our personal lives as well as in the local and global communities we are called to serve. Health and Wellness Ministry To promote good health at every age through health education and awareness and assist individuals in becoming active participants in improving their own health.

Outreach Ministry – To research and develop programs to meet the needs of youth, adults, and senior citizens of the church and community. To reach those children of God who have not given themselves to the Lord and received His Holy blessing.

Parking Ministry To assist with parking vehicles during church services, other functions and activities at the church, John H. Williams Fellowship Hall, and Heyward Community Park.

Social Actions MinistryTo coordinate activities in the areas of social, racial, political and economic relations for the church and community.

Revival Ministry – To assist the pastor in planning all church revivals and seasonal services; plan prayer services, schedule church choirs and visiting choirs for these services.

Ministry of Good Samaritans/ Helping Hands – Provide assistance to members of the church and community with various needs such as transportation to medical appointments and assisting families in caring for the sick and homebound.

Children’s Church Ministry – Under the umbrella of the Christian Education Department- the ministry promotes love, respect, fellowship and understanding of principles of Christian living and Christian services; and demonstrates God’s will through presentation of religious and educational information to youth during worship services.

Technology MinistryTo continuously evaluate and maintain the equipment and support systems of the church and ensure that adequate and economically feasible level of technology is present to permit the church to carry out its mission.

Social Media Ministry- To perform acts of outreach through social media platforms such as, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and etc., to minister to places around world with the Gospel. Throughout the centuries, outreach has become a valuable conduit by which evangelism and the Gospel message is passed. We, the Heyward AME Church, extend our services, benefits, resources, time, prayer, etc., through our Social Media Ministry.

Food Service/Culinary Arts Ministry To secure and maintain the function and usage of the kitchen at the education building

Music MinistryThe Music Ministry is dedicated to worshipping God by proclaiming His glory in a joyful noise. Wayman Chapel has excellent choirs that offer a place for every member to glorify God in songs. There are six choirs in the church to allow participation of all ages and meet the needs of everyone.

Transportation Ministry – To provide assistance with the transportation of church members and the community to church activities and community affairs; establish a long range goal of purchasing a vehicle for the church.

Media Ministry – To record church services and distribute audio/video of services to the sick and shut-in and other members of the church and community.

Ministry on Bereavement To provide assistance to families at times of bereavement with obituaries, outlining the service and securing program participants. To assist the family with any emergency or other need arranging services. Areas: Gaston-Lexington-Dixiana – Columbia

Acolytes MinistryTo train youth of the congregation as participants in the morning worship service by lighting the candles on the Altar at the beginning of service and extinguishing them after the Benediction.

Disaster Relief Ministry – To be prepared to offer tangible assistance during natural disasters, as well as personal emergencies, i.e. fires, loss of employment etc. All efforts are in support of the A.M.E. church and WMS mission.
